On January 11, 2024, the Ridge Unified Basketball Team played its opening game at West Morris Central High School in Chester, New Jersey. This year’s team roster of 70 is larger than ever, with over 25 members coming out to play or cheer at this game.
The final score of 40-36 was close, and the game was determined in the final 10 minutes. Players Brayden Schiraldo, Arthur Li and Tanner Burcatt each scored two baskets but were unable to bring home the win.
“I am incredibly proud of our team’s performance during their first game,” said Coach Madison Mitchell. “Our roster included 13 players in their first season of Unified Basketball, and they put up a good fight against West Morris Central, an excellent team. The upcoming season is surely going to be something to watch, with 70 kids making this our biggest program yet, and I look forward to watching them grow and succeed as a team!”
